Grooming is a habit the puppy learns from you. Short, calm, and often beats one long session a month.

By coat type

Slicker brush for curly and long coats, pin brush for silky coats, rubber curry for short coats. A metal comb finishes every coat and finds the mats a brush skips.

Making it pleasant

Three minutes, on a towel, with treats. Start with the back and sides. Feet, ears, and tail come later, one at a time.

Where mats form

Behind the ears, under the collar, in the armpits, and between the back legs. Check these spots with your fingers every session.
